Thank you First Alert for sponsoring this post. Don’t let the beep steal your sleep.

Did you know that between 2010–2015, a total of 2,244 deaths resulted from unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning? What’s so frightening about carbon monoxide is that it is detectable by humans, there is absolutely know way for us to know my sight and smell alone! Carbon monoxide is an invisible, odorless and deadly gas that can be produced by any fuel-burning devices in our home. Some of the most common sources that produce this gas in/around our home are a furnace, boiler, stove, cars, garage, dryer vent, and chimney. Thankfully there is a simple and effective way to ensure you receive a warning right away if there is ever a carbon monoxide leak in your home!

Why You MUST Replace & Maintain CO Alarms

Making sure you have CO alarms properly installed throughout your home is the only way for you to detect this poisonous gas and provide your family with an early warning. We purchased our first home this past year and up until then… we have always rented and the landlords always had CO alarms installed. This was our first year that we had to take the initiative to ensure that our home was installed with these alarms. Since I had never taken on this responsibility, I was expecting it to be much more complicated. Turned out to be quite the opposite! First Alert has a variety of CO alarms that fit your family’s needs… and it doesn’t require an electrician or messing with the wires in your home.

Why You MUST Replace & Maintain CO Alarms

I was ecstatic when I discovered that there were CO alarms that I could simply plug into the wall because lets be honest… I don’t pull out the level when it comes time to hang anything on the wall, haha! I love that I have the freedom to move this alarm anywhere in the house. I have one plugged into the outlets of each of the kid’s rooms, and it doesn’t take away from the cute decor… it blends right in!Why You MUST Replace & Maintain CO Alarms

We also noticed that all of the smoke alarms in our home appeared to be outdated and needing to be replaced. In fact… many states adopted new building codes that took effect in 2011, which means that carbon monoxide alarms whose useful life of seven years is expiring or will expire soon… so this is actually the ideal time for you to make sure yours is up to date! I can not stress to you enough how simple of a task this can be. If you can hang a picture… you can get these alarms installed in your home!

We installed several of these alarms (pictured above) throughout our new home. This is both a smoke and CO alarm, so we used them to replace all of the smoke alarms in the house! All that it requires you to do is install the mounting bracket into the wall, then click the alarm into place… as simple as that! All of these alarms are also battery operated so when the power goes out, you’re no left with a useless alarm and that obnoxious beep!

  1. I’m so glad that there are devices like this that doesn’t need technicians to get installed. I always love technological innovations that is easily understood and can be done by myself, and have full control over with.
