Is Pet Insurance Really Worth The Cost?
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Healthy Paws Pet Insurance®. All opinions and thoughts expressed are 100% my very my own.
Several months ago we finally decided that our family was prepared to take on the responsibility of having a dog. So we made a visit to our local pet shelter and immediately fell in love with this amazing little puppy curled up in his cage, crying for someone to love him. All it took was one look into that adorable puppies eyes and we knew he was the one. We spent probably 10 minutes with him before letting them know we would take him, then Duke was home with us about an hour later. Now I can’t imagine what life was like before we brought this loving dog into our home. He has brought so much joy and laughter and there is nothing more magical then watching a puppy and your kids grow and bond together!
Seriously though… look at those eyes!!
I have fallen head over heals for this pup and keeping him healthy and happy is very important to me. As fellow dog owners I know that you can all agree with me that a healthy pup is a happy pup! We have a the responsibility of taking care of their health and wellness, just like any member of the family. I will never forget the time that our cat whom we’ve had for over 10 years got out a window and was gone for several days. She returned with a serious injury to her leg (the vet determined it was from being bit) and the vet bill ended up costing me over $800. That is a lot of unexpected cash to hand over all at once… ouch!! This is when I started looking into pet insurance and whether it was worth the cost.
How many times have you had a gut feeling that there just wasn’t something right with your pet’s health? You go back and forth in your head dozens of times trying to decide whether it’s worth bringing them in. That fear of it being nothing and having to foot a large bill is always something that makes me hesitant to bring my pet in. But then what if it actually ends up being something, you don’t bring them in and things make a turn for the worse? If your pet is sick or injured, you don’t want cost to be the deciding factor in determining the best treatment. That is where pet health insurance would allow you to make the decision to bring your pet in without hesitation!

My furbabies name is Bailey, she is a 6 yo female King Charles Cavalier. I wish I had thought to get pet insurance when I first got her. When I get another animal, I will definitely be purchasing a policy. Thank you for the information, I have saved the website for future use.
I don’ have insurance for my pets I guess I have been lucky because i have only needed to get them their shots annually and we have had a few mishaps but the cost was manageable. I would consider insurance if it was at the right price.
My baby is Lucy she’s a 3 year old chihuahua that we rescued from a person who just used her to make puppies to make money. She was under weight when we got her she is now fixed healthy as ever and spoiled rotten. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Yes I am looking into pet insurance.
We have a spaniel mix named Kandy, a terrier mix named Ella and a chihuahua mix named Ruby. They all were adopted from shelters and are wonderful dogs 🙂 I have considered getting pet insurance.
Hi Heather – thank you for sharing your pet insurance story! Duke is so cute, we would fall in love with that sweet face too! 🙂
Excellent read! I totally agree, if you have a pet then you must have pet health insurance, period.
