I really want to get back into the habit of drinking water all of the time, I have really been slacking these past few months and gained a few extra unwanted pounds. Plain water can be so boring and makes passing up a glass of diet coke much more difficult. We tried stocking the refrigerator with bottled water to encourage everyone in the house to start consuming more water. This ended up being a very bad idea because the kids were constantly opening bottles, taking two sips, then leaving them someplace… repeating the cycle a dozen times over and by the end of the week I am cleaning up half drinken bottles all over the place. Purchasing flavored water bottle never made it to the equation because I wasn’t going to spend more money on something that was just going to get waster. I decided our best option was to have a water dispenser available in the refrigerator, one that was easy for even the littlest ones at home to use. I recently had the pleasure of using the Style Setter Newport 6 Piece Beverage Dispenser Set for Jays Companies and it has become one of the most utilized items in our kitchen.

The beautiful dispenser stores easily in the refrigerator (right next to the tupperdor). My four year old son can grab a cup and get himself a drink from this with ease and he is loving the independence. We have had a lot of fun trying out different beverages in the dispenser, but have found we were most satisfied with a simple infused lemon water. This is such an easy, simple and inexpensive recipe that will yield quite a bit of water for your family and/or guests to enjoy.

So what do you need to create your very own lemon infused water? Just a bag of lemons, water and ice will be your three main ingredients for this beverage, however there are so many additional ingredients you can add, depending on your preference.

Make sure to scrub and rinse your lemons under cold water, then roll them on the counter prior to cutting them, this will actually help with getting more flavor from the peels. Slice your lemons into four pieces and toss them in the dispenser, then proceed to fill with water and ice. Put the dispenser into the refrigerator for at least two to four hours, the longer it sits, the more potent the infused flavor becomes. Once a few hours passes you are ready to enjoy a delicious, crisp, cold glass of infused lemon water. This is significantly better than any flavored bottled water you have had and contains a much fresher flavor. If you are a fan of flavored water you are really going to enjoy this inexpensive and fun new way to enjoy your favorite beverage.
