How to Keep Your Produce Fresh Longer

Have you ever been overwhelmingly excited to discover that the grocery store is having an amazing sale on produce and take full advantage by stocking up? Only to get home and a few days in realize you have grabbed far too much produce and need to quickly find a way to use it all up before it goes bad. Then realizing there aren’t enough hours in that day to create all these recipes that will use up your produce? Wouldn’t it be better to find a way to prolong the life of your produce… simply keep your produce fresh for longer! Here is a simple and effective way to keep all of your favorite produce crisp and fresh for longer!
I recently found myself on a weekly grocery shopping trip where they were having a great sale on produce and I just knew I had to take advantage. Instead of heading home and feeling overwhelmed with what to do with all that produce, I placed all of it in my FreshWorks Produce Saver!
FreshWorks is a food storage container that uses patented FreshVentTM technology to keep your produce fresher up to 80%* longer than the traditional produce packaging. Take a look at the image above and your will see a close up of the FreshVent, which regulates the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide to create the optimal environment so produce your stays nearly as fresh as the day it was picked!
There is even a CrispTrayTM at the bottom of the container, this elevates your produce in order to keep it away from moisture. The tray also helps to promote proper airflow which will help prevent spoilage.
As someone that puts much effort into finding ways to be more frugal, there is nothing worse than throwing away food… it’s like tossing my money in the trash. Discovering that my produce has spoiled after just a few days and leaving me no choice but to throw it away is very frustrating. Did you know that Americans waste $24 billion worth of produce every year, which is the equivalent of $192 per household?** Thankfully FreshWorks can help all of us in extending the life of my produce, so our family can eat it before it goes to waste!
Using the FreshWorks Produce Saver is incredibly simple, just move your produce directly from the store packaging and into the FreshWorks containers. This will maintain your produce freshness for up to 80% longer. The lid filter lasts a lifetime, so there is no need for replacements. The containers are microwave and top shelf dishwasher safe and BPA-free.
Available in three sizes to hold all types of produce:
- Small (2.5 Cups): Ideal for small berries.
- Medium (6.3 Cups): Perfect for strawberries.
- Large (17.3 Cups): Optimal for leafy greens.
*Based on strawberries in FreshWorks™ containers vs. store packaging. Results may vary depending upon produce and use.

love to keep fresh fruit ready to eat, right how it would be filled with strawberries and blueberries.
I would store strawberries and raspberries in the store in Rubbermaid FreshWorks containers.
I would store my fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries in these containers.
I would store fresh vegetables like tomatoes and fruit. These look nice!
Oh I would use them for fruits and vegetables from our container garden we do in the summer! We always do strawberries, blueberries, peas, and cherry tomatoes!
I would like to store celery and broccoli in these containers.
I love all kinds of fresh greens, this would be an awesome contest to win, also love real tomatoes as soon as they are ready at the farmers market!

I would keep my tomatoes and lettuce and my fruit in them
Fresh and healthy food – this is what I love! I have always been an fitness freak and I was eating healthy, but I didn’t find much joy in cooking overall. After I found your blog it has changed, I’m very eager to follow all your recipes and eat something that was prepared by myself – it’s a huge satisfaction!
