How to Organize a Big Family Vacation

While many of us will have enjoyed a vacation with our partners and kids, have you ever thought about organizing a big vacation get-together with other members of your family? Having a vacation with grandparents, uncles and aunties, cousins, or even friends that are more like family is a perfect way to spend some quality time together, or celebrate a special occasion. If you are planning a big family vacation, it is important to get it right so that everyone has a good time. Here are some tips to help you get started!

Consider Budget

Where will you all be staying when on vacation? You might book separate rooms in a hotel, book group villa holidays, or even a luxury camping in tepees or yurts. Whatever accommodation you book, it needs to be suitable and comfortable for all, and also something that everyone can afford. Again, it is important to book accommodation as early as you can to get the best prices.

Start Early

Organizing a group of people to be in the same places at the same time can be challenging. Most people lead busy lives, so sorting out a date when everyone is free can only happen if you plan in advance. Consult with family members to find a suitable date, and confirm it with everyone.

Things to Do

The location where you have your vacation needs to be somewhere where there are activities that will be enjoyable for all. It is a good idea to have a mix of things to do, such as something to help the kids let off some steam, as well as gentler activities for the older members of the group. Taking a family tour is a great way to make sure there are activities and experiences for everyone to enjoy.

Don’t forget: It is your vacation too, and while it is nice to spend time as a group, it is also good to explore and do your own thing sometimes too. This gives all of you the freedom to do what you want, as well as spending time together.

Don’t Over-Do It!

Being organized is good up to a point, but you don’t want to be the uptight member of the group who spoils the fun by nagging at family members. It is a good idea to have a loose plan of what you all want to do on your vacation, but it can’t be so strict that you have no time for spontaneity! If your aging auntie wants to go off on a camel ride on a whim, well it might be best just to let her!

A big family vacation is something that lets you all escape from the norm for a while, helps strengthen the bonds between you and is something that you will all remember. If this is the first time you are having a large get-together, don’t expect everything to go right. Even the best-organized vacations can have a few little mishaps here and there. As long as you are flexible, and remember the reasons why you are spending time with your family, you are sure to have a great time.

  1. Great Piece of advice there!!

Planning early is everything when dealing with a large group. You need to plan carefully to spend time in activities and destinations most individuals enjoy.
It can become messy if you wait for the last minute rush.

It always feels amazing spending quality time with your family members. Thank you for sharing with us!
