This year was one of my most favorite years when it came to decorating for the holidays. Normally no one really cares and relies on my to get all of the Christmas decorations up throughout the house. This year my ten year old daughter was very interested in putting up the decor. She went into our storage area in the garage to get all the Christmas boxes and brought them into the living room. She spend hours placing stuff all through the house and our mantle looked gorgeous when she was finished. I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to stock up on some new Christmas items and create something together. We headed to At Home and grabbed a bunch of items to make a simple holiday tablescape on the dining room table.
I could seriously spend all day in that store… one of my most favorite places to shop at when it comes to home decor. At Home has some beautiful Christmas items this year and it didn’t take us long to fill the cart to the top. I decided on a silver and gold theme and there was more than enough of those items throughout the store.
What’s so great about tablescapes is that there is no certain way to do them, it’s all about getting creative and letting imagination inspire you.
I purchased two boxes of ornaments (one box of gold and one box of silver) because I have seen lots of tablescapes where people use them in their decorations. I found a gorgeous glittery sled and filled it with the ornaments and pine cones.
My suggestion to you for creating a tablescape is just set it up! Once you have it set up, start moving stuff around, rearranging, adding and/or taking away until you are happy with how the tablescape looks.
You don’t have to be an expert or scroll through Pinterest for hours to inspire you to create the perfect tablescape! Just trust yourself and let your creativity inspire you! If you are still having a hard time trying to create the perfect tablescape, the At Home store has areas all throughout the store where they set up mock living areas with the decorations. I have found plenty of inspiration just looking at how they use their items to decorate the store!
