6 Reasons Why Europe is the Ideal Family Destination

Have you ever seen images of Europe on TV shows or in movies, and dreamed of one day visiting this collective of countries? Or perhaps you are looking for a holiday idea, and are unsure of where to travel next. Whatever your desire, Europe is an ideal destination. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why Europe should be on your list of family destinations.

Diversity

First of all, although Europe is roughly the same size as the United States, it is made up of a collective of 51 Independent States, and 44 of these are countries in their own right. That means that Europe has a massive range of languages, cultures, different cuisines and climates. Much of mainland Europe can be traveled around via car, however if you were to visit Ireland or Great Britain, these are Islands separate off the mainland and you would need to either catch a ferry or fly in.

History

Many of the countries in Europe have rich historical backgrounds and stories. It’s amazing to visit somewhere like Berlin in Germany, and still see the marks of the Berlin Wall, laid down in brick, throughout the city. Or to go to someplace like Auschwitz in Poland, the concentration camp run by the Germans during World War 2 – a truly harrowing and humbling experience that will leave you in sheer awe.

Safety

There are not very many places in Europe that wouldn’t be considered safe to travel to. At the same time though, it’s always a good idea to ensure that your insurance details are up to date, especially if driving over there. Visit Kanetix for more information in this regard.

One Currency

Another advantage to traveling to Europe is, many of the countries use one currency – the Euro. This means you won’t need to be visiting the Bureau de Exchange every time you visit a new country. And much of Europe is connected via train lines, making getting around very easy, especially on the mainland.

Range of Climates:

Of course, much will depend on the time of year that you choose to visit. But climate in Europe has a huge range. From the temperate climates found in the British Isles to the very hot summers in Spain, there are many variances in temperature and rains. And if you choose to visit Ireland, they say that it’s possible to experience all 4 seasons in the one day!

Try The Backpacking Experience

It is possible to travel throughout Europe, staying in hostels and traveling around via the train lines, quite inexpensively. A 2 week trip could see you getting to many different countries such as The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, to name but a few. This is a truly unique experience, and one that many Europeans themselves take, to drink in their surroundings, and learn more about their history. This is perhaps one of the better ways to see all that Europe has to offer.
