Discover The Only Blankets My Toddler Will Use For Nap Time

I have been so incredibly blessed with child number three when it comes to naps! This sweet little girl of mine demands naps and one mention of it and she starts running towards her bed. She knows without even being reminded that she is overtired and needs to lay down for a nap. Getting her down for nap is equally as simple, all she needs is momma by her side for a few moments, her favorite stuffed animal at the moment, and her beloved muslin swaddle! She has enjoyed the comfort of an organic cotton muslin blanket literally since the day she was born, they were the only blankets I packed in my hospital bag. Since then she has had one by her side for each nap and I must say that these are the only blankets my toddler will use for nap time! Both myself and the little misses would agree, nothing else compares to a muslin swaddle blanket! Why you ask? Well let me tell you just a few reasons we love them so much.

I used it the day she was born, wrapping her up in it when she was restless and she slept so peacefully. The reason why I personally choose these blankets over any other is because of how breathable they are. No matter the temperature outside or in, I can relax knowing that because of the breathable fabric, my daughter isn’t too hot during warmer weather. The fabric has an open weave (similar to mesh or gauze) and is light-weight, allowing your child’s body temperature to naturally regulate. Another reason I love these blankets is because of its many uses. I often use them to drape over my shoulder while nursing in public, it’s not large and too bulky for my daughter, it works perfectly for being discreet. I also used them all of the time when my daughter was in an infant car seat or in her stroller. They are great for draping over the front of the car seat or stroller to block out sun… or keep strangers from trying to touch your new bundle of joy. I also used them as a handy burp cloth. If you are a nursing mom then this is a use that I found helpful. When my daughter was a newborn she would always grab and scratch at her face when nursing, I would take the muslin swaddle and place it between her fingers so she could play with that instead… worked out great!
So now that you know all of the reasons why I love these muslin swaddles, let me share with you all of the reasons my toddler is still choosing them over all her other blankets. First of all, they are perfect for little hands and easy to haul around. Something that is particular fascinating about muslin swaddles is that they get softer with each wash. Considering my daughter is almost 18 months old now and has dragged her blankets through dirt, grime and lunch the past year and a half… her blankets are so unbelievably soft now! I just love how excited she gets when I am folding the laundry and she spots a freshly washed swaddle blanket! These blankets measure 47in x 47in and the size makes them the ideal blanket for toddlers during nap time. This blanket can cover her completely when it’s a bit colder inside, or snuggle up beside her when the weather is warmer. Either way… this girl will never be seen taking a nap without a muslin swaddle within arms reach!
