Top 5 Reasons For Renting vs. Buying New Toys

I have three children and an entire playroom that is dedicated to just their toys. Every other month I go through their playroom and wean out any toys that they have either outgrown, lost interest, broken or flat out proclaim that they no longer like. There are so many toys I have regretted buying… which are mostly items that the kids just had to have and then got little no use once they had it. Then there is all the baby toys I am starting to get rid of now that my youngest has become a very active toddler. Many of her baby toys are practically brand new and I discovered bins of toys she never got around to playing with. There is much I have learned about toys over the pays 9.5 years of being a mom and have put together the top reasons for renting vs. buying new toys! I hope these tips are helpful to you and you learn from my mistakes in the journey of toy buying.

Top 5 Reasons For Renting vs. Buying New Toys
Recent studies show that families will spend on average $1000 per child per year on toys. With new toys being released throughout the year, and our children’s ever-changing tastes, toy rentals are a great solution for your wallet. Renting toys is also more environmentally friendly. The savings in plastic alone from reduced purchases amounts to at least 240lbs fewer C02 emissions per annum per Pley member. One of our favorite places to rent toys from is Pley, whom make it possible for families to save as much as 70% on toys that tend to be short-lived, eliminates clutter while reducing waste. I feel like children go through a honey moon phase when they get new toys and then after a week they have no interested whatsoever in that item. Just imagine being able to take that forgotten toy, ship it back and then receive a brand new toy in the mail! You playroom isn’t getting cluttered with forgotten toys, you aren’t spending ridiculous amounts of money on the new must have item, and it’s like Christmas each time a new box comes. There are also many lessons to teach your children while renting toys. They will need to learn how to respect and care for toys, not destroying, losing or breaking any of the pieces. Teaching them to respect other people’s property and the responsibility that comes with returning the toy. It’s the same principle as when your child checks a book out at the library! Honestly renting toys is a win win for both parents and their children and there are so many benefits to it.
