You might find the lecture too boring or you might be distracted by outside interference.Whatever the reason, not being focus enough would cause you a loss that can cost you a lot.

There are many factors that contribute towards losing focus where technology is one of them, especially in the new generation.

If your ability to focus on things is weak then worry not, there are ways to increase focus span.

Without much ado, let’s have a look at tips to improve focus:

Shut Down Distractions For Good

Around 97%  of college students are doing something on their phones while in the class. It may be due to several reasons, most importantly out of habit. A lot of us are addicted to the phone/internet and need to check updates constantly. Some are busy talking to friends on the internet, some just browse the feed needlessly and some play games on their mobile phones, all while neglecting the lecture.

According to many people, your mobile phone is the #1 distraction, but it isn’t the only one. You can be distracted by other students in the class or what’s happening outside.

For this reason, you need to need good control over your mind and body. Keep your phone away. Ideally, keep it on silent and inside your pockets. Other than this, avoid talking to others and listen to what your professor has to say.

Avoid Dehydration

Hydration and focus go hand in hand. When you are not consuming at least 8 to 10 glasses of water, your mind won’t be functioning at optimal levels. In other words, our nervous system doesn’t communicate with the body if we aren’t well hydrated.

If you are experiencing confusion, slow processing, laziness and a weak focus span then look into how much water you are consuming. Stay hydrated at all times, especially when you are doing something important that requires your full focus.

If you think that exercising is just for the body and muscle building then think again. When you exercise, certain chemicals are released into the brain that help to enhance mind power and focus levels. These are endorphins that help priorities tasks in your brain and increase focus as well.

Take Breaks

If you have been studying for hours or working without taking any breaks then you’re making a mistake. According to a study, taking smaller breaks while doing longer tasks helps in energizing the brain. This helps us to refresh and start with more focus.

The break does not have to be very long. Just strolling for a minute or looking around can help. However, you need to be careful about when you take a break and for how long. Sometimes you might get distracted and lose focus completely so be careful about it.
