Keep Up With Your Own Beauty Traditions

I was born with a full head of year and have continued to have a full head of thick hair my entire life. I remember growing up that each morning before going off to school, my mother would spray my hair with leave in conditioner and brush it for me. This was always something I looked forward to because I really loved my mom doing my hair and it was essential how I learned to care for my hair. Fast forward a few decades and I now spend each weekday morning getting my nine year old daughter ready by doing her hair and showing her different beauty tips. It is so special to see beauty traditions passed on through each generation and I look forward to seeing her grow up and share those special traditions with her own children!
Dove knows that real beauty is shaped by real women, so this spring they’re celebrating that by sharing some inspiring beauty stories, nationwide. Who in your life taught you to make Dove part of your beauty routine? Share your story by using #BeautyStory and letting Dove know! This is such a great way to honor the women who helped shape your perception of beauty, and to inspire other women to discover their own. For a little inspiration, watch a video from Dove’s latest campaign which features a family with four generations of women, and a tradition of passing down one simple beauty secret: the Dove Beauty Bar. I found that the part when one daughter said, “My mom was the one who started this all off, and she passed it along to me and my sister. Then we passed it along to our daughters. So I guess it’s kind of like a family secret.” was a really sweet perspective of their tradition.
