My family and I recently visited our local Buckhead, Atlanta Best Buy store and had the opportunity to explore their all new Intel experience zone. What is an Intel experience zone you ask? Well did you know that according to a new study by Intel and Toluna, 79% of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, but half of those people are frustrated by the lack of access they have to them beyond what they read or see in the media. Are you one of those people desperately wanting to get your hands on cutting edge technology and see what it’s all about? Well lucky for you because Intel and Best Buy have teamed up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S. The Intel Technology Experience lets customers (from tech enthusiasts to technophobes) play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they’ve only heard about.

Our first stop in our family’s Intel experience was the 3D printer, something I have recently heard about on the news, but have never seen in action. Customers can actually visit the Intel experience and build and print their very own 3D robot. We were all completely amazed by this part of our visit and the employee there was full of insight and details on what a ground breaking device this was. We received so much more than just a visual, the staff is there to educate and explain everything in detail so you may have a  better understand of this new technology.

I have to say that the next stop in our visit was my absolute favorite and I am so thrilled to see how much convenience this recent technology is going to bring us. This virtual reality technology was unlike anything I have personally seen and my kids could have spent all day racing through mars. The Intel employee also informed me that there are many more aps to utilize with this technology, but there was one that really stood out to me. You can use this same technology to shop with Ikea by taking a piece of furniture from their website that you are interested in purchasing, use your tablet/smartphone and view the room as it places an image of the furniture in your room so you can see how it will look. What??!! You can actually see how the furniture will look in your home before buying! How amazing is that!? Just imagine how much time this is going to save you!

Intel is taking the tablet experience to a whole new level by providing customers with laptops that contain tablet capabilities and features. Everyone these days has their laptop and they have their tablet… but imagine taking those two things and combining them! Well you no longer have to imagine what this would be like because the Intel experience allows you to test out this amazing new technology first hand! Reading about it online can only offer your so  much insight, but being able to use a product first hand prior to purchasing it is the ultimate test.

While the kids enjoyed racing through mars, my husband and I had a chance to experience a Ne’Yo concert! My husband was the DJ while I controlled the lighting and excited the audience! This technology allows you that capability to control the sounds, lighting, and audience in the concert… my husband and I were quite blown away by how much fun this technology was! Taking a look at the image below, you will see that there are two laptops on front of the screen, meaning two people can join in on this game at the same time.

The Best Buy Intel experience zone was by far one of the most informative places I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. My husband is extremely tech savvy and I tell people all of the time that he is my personal tech service. I can’t tell you how many times we have visited electronic stores and my husband was more informed and educated than the employees when he was purchasing stuff. He spent a lot of time grilling and discussing all the new technology with the specially trained Intel employee and he was very impressed. My husband informed me that he was exceptionally knowledgeable on everything and he was actually able to discuss and answer all of his questions in detail. He very rarely meets a person that can discuss technology at the same level as him and it is quite the complement if my husband is impressed with the experience he received. My ultimate point being that the staff in the Intel experience zone are highly trained and educated on the products featured in the area… you are going to leave the store with so much more information than when you arrived. These people are going to be able to answer and explain each and every question you may have! So what are you waiting for?
