If there is one bit of advice this experienced mom traveler can give, it is to make sure you always have plenty of snacks for on the road. Having plenty of snacks to last the entire trip is going to save you both time and some sanity. Not only to you avoid the dreaded stops to the gas station, but your kids will stay entertained and happy for hours. I have followed several methods when it comes to snacking int he car, but only one has made it to the top of the list for most reliable. I am so excited to share with you how to create your very own travel snack kit and some must have snacks that be bring with us!
I have wasted a ridiculous amount of money on those fancy snack storage containers! They never ever work out and I have yet to find one that is practical enough for bring with us on a road trip. What our family started using for our travel snack kit is only a few dollars and has worked better than any snack container I have yet to use. The solution was a simple tackle box!
You can find these tackle boxes ranging in prices that are all less than $5! What I loved about a tackle box is that it gives you the freedom to customize all of the storage spaces, so you will always have the right size space for each individual snack.
The tackle box is very light weight and when your kids are not snacking, it can easily rest on their lap to be used as a lap tray. Think of all the coloring and fun games the kids can play!
I always make sure to include the fruit, crackers and trail mix that my children enjoy snacking on, but also make sure to include a snack that are filling so they don’t eat up all their food within the first hour of driving! The all new Jif® Power Ups™ recently joined us on a road trip and I found them to be the perfect snack to keep the kids happy.
The Jif® Power Ups™ come in two different forms, first is the Jif® Power Ups™ Creamy Clusters which are my absolute favorite! I use to make my own energy ball that are similar to these, but it can be so time consuming making them. I was so thrilled to discover the creamy clusters, they are absolutely delicious! My children are over the moon about the Jif® Power Ups™ Chewy Bars. What this mom loves about both these products is that they provide a balance of protein, fiber and good fats… plus there is no corn syrup!
A road trip can be very draining and I am always seeking ways to keep both my health and energy up while traveling. The Jif® Power Ups™ are energizing, nourishing and filling (so we aren’t snacking on unhealthy fast food) and that is exactly what we need while on the road! These are truly a win-win snacking solution for moms because our children are snacking on something we know is good for them!
So before you pack the kids up for a road trip, make sure you get all the essentials so you can put together your very own travel snack kit! When picking up the food items, swing by the cereal aisle in Publix because that is where you are going to find the Jif® Power Ups™ products. Right now you can actually save even more money using this coupon, which will save you $.75 off any one Jif® Power Ups™ Creamy Clusters or Chewy Granola Bars 5 ct. (valid until 1/31/19).
