However it feels like so many of use can’t find the motivation to start because we have failed so many times. I am not here to provide you with over the top tips on how to get healthy in the new year. I am a working mother of three… I get how busy life can be an how exhaustion can deter you from daily exercise. The tips I am going to share with you today are simple and convenient to implement into you every day routine. These are 5 healthy habits that will improve your life and make you feel altogether healthier and happier.
Tip #1: Drink a big glass of water each morning and throughout the day
There are so many great benefits to drinking more water and starting your day off with a big glass of warm lemon water. Many of us don’t actually drink enough water each day, experts recommend that a normal human being should consume at least eight glasses of water per day. Drinking the recommended amount of water can help keep you skin looking good, it keeps your brain sharp, minimizes infections and diseases, it’s important for energizing muscles… just to name a few benefits!
How to Drink More Water Every Day
- Sip before, during and after every meal
- Drink a glass every time you take a bathroom break
- Replace most of your daily beverages with pure drinking water
- Eat foods that are rich in water such as cucumber, zucchini, water melon and grapefruit
- Always carry a water bottle around, which will keep you motivated to drink sufficient water
Tip # 2: Get at least 7 Hours of Sleep
Getting at least 7 hours of sleep each night is critical because so many important functions take place in the mind and body when we sleep. I know that many of us think this amount of sleep is impossible… but is it really? How many of us decide to stream just one episode of your favorite show on Netflix? How many times have we sat in bed, phone in hand, and and catching up on your Facebook feed? Imagine if we instead just went to bed! Our body’s need that amount of sleep because it’s how we recharge. Our unconscious mind and body are busy at work restoring, recharging, and re-energizing each night and need at least 7 hours of sleep to fully achieve that. Sleep deficiency has an overall effect on your mood, energy, health, and mental well-being. So put that device down, turn the television off, work on the laundry tomorrow when you are well rested and more productive!
Tip #3: Pick a physical activity you love
Don’t force yourself to run every day if you hate it. Don’t drag yourself to the gym each evening if you hate it. There are so many fun and simple ways to get physical each day… so find the one you love! Try a new physical activity each day until you find one that you actually enjoy and want to do each day. Whether it’s yoga, boxing or walking the dog… getting physical each day is going to have a major improvement on your health.
