Technology has come a long ways this past decade and I recently had the opportunity to learn about some of the top technology available for your home. I discovered how new technology can make a modern home more convenient during a tour of the Best Buy Tech Home. If you find yourself at the North Point Mall in Alpharetta, you may have noticed a “home” located in the center court.
Upon arriving to the tech home, I was amazed to discover how much time and effort went into creating a modern home! This wasn’t a simple display with poster boards… they actually have a home set up with all of the latest technology so you can get a feel for how these items would look in your own home.
There was so much to discover and learn abut technology during my tour, I actually had to narrow it down so this post wouldn’t get too long! One of my favorites was this mud room they recreated. This may look like your average mud room, but it actually includes convenient technology with family in mind. If you have older kids that go home after school while you are still at work, then you are going to love this technology! There is a device that will alert you when the kids get home… no more worrying when you can’t get a hold of them right away!
Our next stop was the bedroom where you can instantly see that this is packed full of technology that will allow you to wind down comfortably at the end of the day. All of the lighting us customizable in the room, meaning you can adjust it to the time of day and/or your mood. I also learned that this particular TV comes with a remote that you can give commands to. Whether you want to listen to Pandora, stream your favorite show, or catch up on the news… a simple command into the remote is all that is needed!
I would have to say that the living room is my favorite part of the house. This is where the family always seems to gather and where we spend most of our time together. I discovered during our next stop that there are so many more ways I can make my living room even better! In addition to the crisp/clear color from the TV and the impressive sound bar… there is something else you way not notice right away. You see those two candle sticks on the stand in front of the TV? Great decor right? Well those are actually lights and a technician explained that they work with the TV. The lights will change/flicker/blink to go along with the movie you are watching in order to enhance your movie experience… pretty neat, right!!??
Our next stop was the kitchen where my adorable son had the opportunity to show everyone how te lights work. If you take a look at the top of the cabinets and then the iPad my son is using… you will notice that he is actually controlling the lights!
My favorite appliance in the kitchen has to be this refrigerator… WOW is the first word that comes to mind. This has more features and designs than my car! The outside is a touchscreen where you can look up recipes, write notes to the kids, set different temperatures throughout the refrigerator… and so much more. If you are stuck in the kitchen preparing food while the family is watching a movie well you no longer have to worry because you can watch it right on the screen of this refrigerator. At the store and you can’t remember if you are out of butter? Simply open the app for this refrigerator and it will take a picture of the inside of the refrigerator for you. Again.. WOW!
This is a modern kitchen that I would have no problem hosting Thanksgiving in!
My husband has to travel for work and there are some weekdays he is not home with us. That is why security is very important to me. If you take a look at the image down below you will see that there are many ways I can make my home safe. You will also notice that the tech home has security cameras so that you can see them in action. From smart locks to motion sensors, the technicians gave me a lot to think about when it comes to making our home more safe and secure when it comes to technology.
Just a little something extra to share with you! This was my son showing our tour group how this robot works… he’s pretty neat, definitely on the kid’s Christmas list this year!
