The Importance of Letting Your Kids Choose What They Wear

My oldest child never had any interest in clothes shopping or picking out her outfits. She was fully dependent on me when it came to choosing her outfits each day and was perfectly content with that. I became so use to always choosing her outfits and purchasing her clothes without any input, that I didn’t realize I was taking away from her the opportunity to create her own style. It wasn’t until I had my second child that I realized what strong opinions children can have when it comes to fashion . My son had a very strong opinion when it came to his clothes and actually enjoyed shopping with me from a very young age. My third child was no different and was even more strong willed when it came to choosing her clothes. Just a month shy 1.5 and this child squeals over new outfits and will actually point to clothes that she wants while we are in the store. It took over nine years of parenting and three children to realize the importance of letting your kids choose what they wear.

Helping your child in their journey to discover which style they love doesn’t have to be an expensive venture! I was recently shopping at my local Walmart and was blown away by the amount of adorable, stylish and quality toddler clothing they had. Healthtex was a brand that truly caught my eye, as there were displays of the most sweetest outfits everywhere. From classic styles to dress up clothes, my head was spinning and not knowing where to start. My one year old was more than thrilled to get out of the cart and take a look around, she was able to find some outfits she loved in no time.

My daughter has been particualry fond of animals lately and was ecstatic over the panda and fox outfits. She grabbed ahold of those two outfits and declared them as hers! It was so cute watching her carry them around and point out the animals on the shirts to anyone that walked past us. I took down the gold outfit for her to see what she thought and sure enough we both agreed that Adeline had to have it!

After our fun trip to the toddler clothing section of Walmart, I was sitting at home with my daughter and helping her to put on an outfit she was anxious to wear. I couldn’t help but notice what great quality the clothes were and what little money I had actually paid. I was also relieved that I didn’t just spend an hour wondering around a large clothing store trying to find good deals, I was able to shop in one section and find more than enough great clothing at even greater value. That clothes shopping trip to Walmart was so stress free, I didn’t have to spend all day shopping, but instead used that time I saved to spend with my family. This quality brand and stress free shopping isn’t something I would typically associate with Walmart and I am so pleased that they offer such stylish clothing for kids now!

I am a mother of three and I know all too well how quickly kids grow out of their clothing. They also always seem to have growth spurts around the same time..s. I typically dread having to bring all three for new outfits. However, Healthtex from Walmart has given me a more positive outlook when it comes to clothing shopping for the kids. I can bring all three kids and allow them to choose the outfits they love and the styles they want without worrying about spending outside my budget. Allowing my kids to get the clothes they really want at a young age is an important way to help them gain their own sense of style and fashion!
