Dozens of vacuum cleaners line the walls of Will’s home, and he’ll impress you by rattling off the make and model of each one. But his unlikely passion for the household appliance is less surprising than the fact that he beat a grim diagnosis with a 5 percent survival rate. Will was only 2 years old when a large mass was discovered on his liver, triggering several rounds of intense chemotherapy and the removal of 75 percent of the organ. It was a happy day when doctors declared he was in remission, but Will is still facing aftereffects — both physical and emotional — of the disease. Medications caused numbness in Will’s hands, legs and feet, forcing him to relearn how to walk. He also had to overcome fears that everyone he encountered would inflict pain. With the love and support of his family, Will is tackling one obstacle at a time. He looks forward to a bright future that, hopefully, includes running his own vacuum shop one day.

The first time I saw Will’s picture I immediately saw my own son in him… with the light blonde hair and charming blue eyes. His smile overfilled my heart with joy as I studied the picture and saw a sweet young boy still able to express happiness despite his circumstance… I can only hope to have an ounce of that bravery if ever in his shoes. Children are so resilient and positive, even during difficult times, we as adults could learn so much from them. I just couldn’t imagine the hardships, sadness and obstacles this family is facing. The Children’s Miracle Network Hospital was able to help ease some of this family’s burden because of those that generously donate to their cause. Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s funds helped cover Will’s pharmacy bills and also paid for a pediatric hematology oncology research laboratory that will benefit kids like him for many years to come.

  12. I learned that Walmart gives back – I LOVE this!! I also learned that J&J: J&J will donate $1 per purchase of any Johnson’s Baby, Aveeno Baby, Desitin items along with Infant Tylenol 551981239 and Infant Motrin 551981238, up to a maximum of $200,000 for purchases made from May 4, 2015 – June 4, 2015.

  13. I have given to Children’s Miracle Network & St. Judes for years now. These charities are very close to my heart!! Late at night, when I see these heart wrenching commercials, I CRY!!! NO child should suffer ANYTHING!!! It’s hard enough, at times, just being a kid!! My daughters have even given their hair for wigs for cancer patients. My preference was a hat. This experience was hard for me to accept & go through, I can’t imagine what the families & these sweet little babies feel!!

  14. Something I learned and liked – Procter & Gamble will donate $200,000 in June 2015.
