When I was first told that one of our family’s favorite places to visit was embracing the holidays, I could not wait to bring my children there to visit. I have to admit that I was completely blown away when I first arrived at Six Flags Over Georgia and the Holiday In The Park… I had defiantly underestimated just how amazing it was going to look. The park has been completely transformed into a Christmas wonderland and the little details put in place makes it so magical. They didn’t simply put a few Christmas light up around the park, there isn’t a single spot in the park that hasn’t been touched by Christmas. Even if you are not a fan of rides, there is so much for you to do that would occupy your time for a good part of the day. There are over a million Christmas lights in the park and I could have walked around the park for hours mesmerized by them.

When visiting the park you will get to experience festive shows, dozens of Christmas trees, more than one million LED lights and meet Santa Claus. Take a stroll through Peppermint Plaza. the North Pole and snowy Main Street Christmas (with a little help from a snow machine!)  Why not take a walk through a mistletoe tunnel or journey back in time to simpler days of Christmas past with Retro Christmas USA? You can even create your own s’mores or enjoy a traditional holiday meal with roasted turkey breast, cranberry sauce and candied yams.  Take a moment to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or cider, roasted nuts or a breaded soup bowl. Or try a twist of typical fare with red velvet funnel cakes or apple cinnamon and pumpkin spice pretzels. Visit the Candlelight Carousel and listen to some of your favorite traditional carols in the beautiful holiday atmosphere.

Each night, Holiday in the Park begins with the lighting of its towering 25-foot Christmas tree located in the front of the park in A Main Street Christmas. There are more than one million lights lit in one harmonious moment, signifying the beginning of Holiday in the Park. The tree will be lit by military personnel, police officers and firefighters, along with their loved ones, at 6 p.m. before Christmas and 5 p.m. after Christmas.

Take a magical ride on the North Pole Express and journey to the North Pole where Santa and Mrs. Claus are waiting to see you! You will have the opportunity to have your photos taken with Santa Claus, whom was exceptionally nice by the way!

There are so many beautiful places to pause and take pictures of your children, just think Christmas cards! There are endless amounts of fun scenery to enjoy, they truly have done a wonderful job capturing Christmas. I just loved all of the little details that were set in place, I could not believe how much work they put into making the park all about Christmas. For example: We went on a boat ride through a haunted house and all the of the monsters were dressed in Christmas costumes! There are fire pits throughout the park to warm up next to while enjoying a hot beverage. Even the shops and food places around the park have welcomed the spirit of Christmas through their doors. The carousel has been decorated with nearly 94,000 lights, 1,350 feet of garland, 1,200 ornaments and more than 200 luminary candles.

The kids talk about our visit all of the time, their time spent there has truly left them with wonderful holiday memories. We will most certainly be returning next year and highly recommend you make this apart of your holiday traditions.
