Kinderfeets: The Wooden Pushbike Review

The Story Behind Kinderfeets

“Derived from the Dutch for “children” and “bicycle,” a Kinderfeets is a wooden push bike designed to ease the transition to pedal-powered bicycle at a toddler’s comfort level.

More than a toy, Kinderfeets is a father’s gift to his son. Disappointed with the push bikes available, Dutch designer Oscar Mulder decided to create his own balance bike for his son, Sebastiaan.

Oscar wanted Sebastiaan to be able to cruise once he became confident enough, so he broke the push bike mold and added footpegs. Knowing kids love to get dirty, he added a removable seat cover that can go in the wash with the rest of the laundry. Other push bikes have inflatable tires that go flat, interrupting the fun. But Kinderfeets’ tires don’t require air. Plus, Kinderfeets’ colorful chalkboard finish provides a reusable canvas for children to exercise their creativity. Older now, Sebastiaan rides a regular bike with ease and confidence – all thanks to the push bike his father designed with him in mind.”

Our Review

As a mom that has unsuccessfully attempted put together more toys than I can remember, I would firstly like to mention how easy the Kinderfeets was to assemble. It must have taken me less than 15 minutes to put together and the required tools were included with the bike.

A few features that stood out to me right away:

The removable seat cushion, which will be great when it needs a good cleaning. I was also very impressed with the tires, in that they were plastic and not rubber. My oldest daughter is constantly needing, for one reason or another, to fill the tires up on her bike. I am grateful that this is one less thing I will have to worry about with the Kinderfeets and we can place all our focus on practicing balancing.

The Kinderfeets wooden pushbike is the perfect bike in order to help my three year old son begin learning to ride a real bike on his own. A regular bicycle requires that he know how to use breaks, which can be quite overwhelming when he is trying so hard to balance. The Kindefeets allows him to only have to focus on one thing, and that’s balancing! The lightweight features and durability make it so he can practice just about anywhere. From the first few tries in the grass, to the little hill down the driveway, the progress has been so great to see. I love that because the Kindefeets is lightweight, he is able to handle and maneuver it all on his own and gain a sense of independence.

The Kinderfeets is also your child’s canvas and coloring it with chalk is something my son really enjoys doing. The chalk is easy to wipe off so he can start a new design for a different day.
