How To Keep Your Baby Comfortable During Spring

How To Keep Your Baby Comfortable During Spring

This post and giveaway were made possible by iConnect and Dreft. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.

From the moment they place your baby in your arms, you feel an overwhelming urge to want to love and protect them with every ounce of your being. One of the biggest concerns all parents have when welcoming their baby into this world, is making sure to protect their skin. We put so much time and consideration into the items we purchase to ensure they are safe for baby’s skin. From their blankets to their diapers, no parent wants their baby to have skin irritations. So doesn’t it make sense that we would ensure that the laundry detergent we use to clean clothes and blankets your baby wears/uses each day is safe on their skin. I never took into consideration what I was washing my clothes with until I had children and the truth is… there are a lot of scary and unsafe detergents out there!

Dreft has been my go to brand for many years when it comes to our laundry needs. Dreft is actually the #1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians for over 80 years because it is gentle and hypoallergenic on baby’s skin. Dreft comes with a baby scent all moms love and it remains safe and hypoallergenic for baby. With spring here and temperatures rising, our family is spending a lot of time outdoors. While the weather may be amazing and delightful, the spring season also brings more allergens to the air and rising temperatures can trigger skin irritations for little ones. It is so important that parents make sure that they seek out products that are gentle on their baby’s sensitive skin, especially during spring time.

My daughter loves to bring her blanket with her everywhere, so in addition to making sure clothes are cleaned, I also have to frequently wash her blanket. Cleaning your little one’s clothes and blankets in a gentle, hypoallergenic product, like Dreft, is a great way and a wise option when it comes to helping keep your baby comfortable during the spring season.

There are also some other very important ways to protect your baby’s skin during the spring. Always make sure to keep your baby shaded from the sun, avoid exposing them to the sun during peak hours (generally 10 a.m. to 4 p.m) and dress baby in protective clothing and a hat. Once you have spent time outdoors and having fun, your first thought may be (when returning indoors) is to get baby in the bathtub. This can actually cause more harm than good to your babies skin if you are giving them too many baths. Yes… it’s true… you can actually give your baby too many baths! You see, over exposure to water can actually rob your baby’s skin of natural moisture. So try scaling back on baths and when they do have bath time, limit it to 10 minutes with warm (not hot) water. Use a mild cleanser at the end of bath time to keep their skin soft and itch-free. When bath time is over, gently pat your baby’s skin dry and end with an after-bath moisturizer to seal in moisture and protect baby’s soft skin.
