My Review

Packing your suitcase and going on an adventure with Doll Shona is a great way to introduce new countries to your child. Starting with Paris, Shona can help you and your child begin a learning adventure about this new type of world. Pack Shona up for a trip to the grocery store and have her join as you shop for food that they eat in Paris. That is just one of the many ideas I have in my head for all of the ways Shona can make learning fun for my son! This suitcase is sturdy and strong, would last for awhile with a traveling kid. The inside also contains a place for Shona to keep an outfit, as well as play in the yard. Shona could skip, hop, pick a flower, pat a cat… the possibilities for imaginations to soar are endless. Changing Shona’s outfit is a great way for younger children to practice fine motor skills.

This high quality doll needs little explanation as to how well made it is, you can see that clearly from the pictures! The stitching is flawless and the fabric is divine. Super soft and huggable, Shona is irresistible and guaranteed to be at your child’s side for many adventures. Don’t worry about the dirt and stains that she may acquire along the way because Shona is machine washable, one of the most convenient features about her. The Importance of Letting Boys Play With Dolls: HABA USA Doll Shona Review Just look at that stitching! The beautiful blue eyes and crazy orange hair make her unique and lovable, a doll sure to be your child’s best doll friend for many years to come. We have had so many different sorts of dolls gifted to my children, so I have a decent idea of the ones that are good quality. The Shona Doll exceeded my expectations and is most certainty not a doll that will get lost at the bottom of a bin! I highly recommend this doll set, it can truly help to engage your child in imaginative play and learning.

The Importance of Letting Boys Play With Dolls

Nothing irks me more than the fact that stereotypes are so strongly forced onto our children in our society. Boys are meant to get their hands in the dirt with monster trucks while little girls delicately prance around with their fairy dolls. I am proud to share that my children are raised in a home where they can freely play with whatever toy or dress up item they choose. Whether it be my son dancing in his sister’s Cinderella dress, or my daughter setting up a giant race track with her brother’s cars. YES, my son really loves monster trucks and basketball. YES, my daughter has dollhouses and cute kitty stuffed animals that she adores. But my son also loves to get into his sisters room when she is at school and set up the dollhouse. My daughter loves to grab an empty container after school, head to the backyard and dig up earthworms. Why? Because they can! Because they shouldn’t be restricted by their gender or judged for not being what society expects. These are the most important years of their life and they should grow memories of having fun pretend play. I was a huge fan of batman as a little girl and my mom bought me loads of Batman toys. Anyone that personally knows my now sees me as a girly girl that loves to dress up and do my hair. The fact that I played with batman toys as a child made no difference, I was just having fun and that’s all that mattered.

Dolls offer your child so many opportunities for developing their fine motor skills. Getting clothes on can be really tough and practicing on a doll will not only build confidence, but help teach your child how the clothes actually go on. Feeding, bathing, grooming and potty training the doll are all things that your child is going to eventually master for themselves. Take advantage of the stress free approach by practicing on a doll, positive reinforcement is always best. Playing with a doll is also a fantastic way to prepare for life changing events, such as bringing home a new sibling. I could go on for hours with all of the reasons it is unfair to not allow your son to play with dolls. So let’s take a moment to put those gender stereotypes aside and allow our children to express themselves freely when they play!
