Southern Cooking Date Night With That Special Someone

Southern Cooking Date Night With That Special Someone

Since moving to the south two years ago I have truly been trying to embrace the culture here, especially the food. There are so many dishes that were unheard of to me when I moved here, but I have slowly been discovering them. One of those recipes was chicken fried steak… kind of a big deal around here and people absolutely love it. I decided not only to try it for the first time, but make it myself! My husband and I are both busy with work in addition to raising three kids, finding time for just the two of us can be difficult and we have grown accustom to making date night at home a tradition. What better way to rekindle the love than a southern cooking date night!

My husband and I met when we were just in high school, 11.5 years later and I am so proud of how far we have come. The challenges, the struggles, the sacrifices… they were absolutely worth it! Life can get so hectic now a days with three kids, but we both try our best to make time for each other. Something as simple as cooking dinner together at home is sometimes all that is needed to remind ourselves of the love we still have.

This was such a fun meal to create together on date night and it was absolutely delicious! However, I am really hoping to go out on a real date later this month to see the new Nicholas Sparks movie, The Choice! The movie comes out on February 5 and based on the book and the trailer… I think it is going to be really good! This movie is all about making difficult choices of the heart to find your destiny and perfect match. Like many other Nicholas Sparks stories, the setting is coastal Carolina, and North Carolina plays a big part in the story. The main characters are first brought together due to an encounter between their dogs! Their adorable pets play an important (and adorable) role in the story! Intriguing? Check out the trailer below!

I am such a sucker for a good love story and can not wait to see this movie! I love that they made pets such a major part of the movie. My husband and I adopted a kitten when we were first together, we call her our first baby. Pets are truly a blessing to every family that takes them into our home and I am thrilled to see a movie that shows that. Have I mentioned how excited I am to see this movie? I hope this post has inspired you to rekindle the romance and find some time together, even if it’s just at home!

  11. 1 Packaged Gravy
Instructions
  1. Heat the coconut oil in a deep skillet.

  4. Deep fry the steaks until evenly golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes per side. Place fried steaks on a plate with paper towels to drain.
  5. Prepare gravy according to the package
