Make It A Movie Night With Easy Popcorn Balls

With temperatures dropping and colder nights ahead, our family has been fully taking advantage of our favorite activity… family movie night! We have taken some of our favorite snacks and created a simple, fun and delicious snack to enjoy while watching a movie together in the comfort of our home. Let’s take a moment to show you just how easy it is to recreate this long time favorite treat that I have enjoyed since I was just a young girl.

Easy Popcorn Balls

The first step to this easy popcorn balls recipe is to melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until the marshmallows are melted.

You will want a runny consistency, make sure not to remove the marshmallow mixture too soon!

Once you remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat, you will then want to add the salt and vanilla extract.

You will then pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and coat evenly, finally adding the M&M’S® Chocolate Candies.

Easy Popcorn Balls

Make sure to generously cover your hands with butter or coconut oil before forming the popcorn balls, this is a very important step! I actually used some cooking spray and would spray my hands before forming each of the popcorn balls. You are going to want to form the popcorn mixture into 3″ balls, then set them on a piece of wax (or parchment) paper to cool completely for about 30 minutes. We placed ours in cupcake holders once they were finished and this actually worked out very well!

Easy Popcorn Balls

This was such an easy recipe and perfect for any movie night. I was able to find the Orville Redenbacher, M&M’S® Chocolate Candies, Coca-Cola for classic Coke at my local Walmart.

Just look at how scrumptious these turned out and how simple they were to make! This is a snack that we will defiantly be making for every family movie night from here on out!

You could even swap out the cupcake holders for a different pattern in order to fit the theme of your family movie night.

  1. Our family absolutely loves Popcorn balls for movie night! I just love how easy your recipe is! Plus the M&M’S included totally make it perfect for movie night! #client

  2. Your recipe is so much easier than the one I used in the 60’s. I intend to try yours and test them on grandkids. I have a feeling that I will try them too, probably not as hard as the others! Thanks.
