With the recent cold-front moving through Georgia, Marie Callender’s pot pies are the perfect comfort food to warm my family up. These are a long time favorite of ours and we have enjoyed the personal pot pies on countless occasions. The children are never disappointment by a hot, steaming pot pie full of mixed vegetables, delicious home-made gravy, mouthwatering white-meat chicken and Marie Callender’s famous “golden flakey crust”.. So when we discovered that our favorite pot pie company has recently introduced a family sized pie, we could not wait to enjoy one on the cold rainy week we have been having. Winds across northern Georgia have been causing below freezing temperatures, the rain making the sky dark and gloomy, and I have had my heat on full blast all day and night. There is just something about that rainy weather that makes me want to turn on the oven and cook something that will fill the entire house with the aroma of comfort food. What better time to let a scrumptious pot pie cook in the oven for a few hours and enjoy it in our warm and cozy pajamas than during a rainy week.

With three kids at home, one being a few months old and a husband out on a business trip for the week, getting a full course meal together for dinner can be somewhat of a challenge. My husband is usually here to entertain the kids, snuggle the baby, and allow me to have free range of the kitchen without tripping over children. Well here I am on one of the coldest and blustery weeks, not wanting to bring my new baby out and desperate for some comfort food to please our hungry belly’s. Marie Callender’s Family Size Pot Pies arrived on the shelves just in time and I could not have been happier. I am not the most skilled person in the kitchen, cooking is certainly not something that comes naturally, nor is it a talent of mine. Having the ability to just pop something in the oven and for it to come out a few hours later looking like a homemade pot pie is beyond wonderful… I honestly could not have made one better if I tried. My children get a decent serving a vegetables with every bite and they eat it without hesitation.

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that my children cleaned their plates when we enjoyed this pot pie. Walmart bakery makes fresh bread that pairs perfectly with this meal, we grabbed a bag of Ciabatta rolls and enjoyed one with every slice of pie. Once my children finish eating all of their meal, they will take the Ciabatta rolls and dip it in all the yummy gravy leftover on the plate…  leaving behind not a single drop!
