The weather in Georgia this week has been simply amazing and we are finally getting a glimpse of what a great summer we are going to have in our new home. We purchased our first home this fall and have been anxiously waiting for warmer weather so we can entertain friends in our new backyard. We have spent a lot of time getting the back porch and patio area ready. What a difference fresh paint and new patio furniture makes! What our new backyard has taught me is that I don’t have to leave the home to have a good time, I can enjoy wine and appetizers from the comfort of my back porch. I am so excited to share with you how I successfully hosted a simple wine and cheese party on our back porch surrounded my warm air and beautiful blooming trees!

My first bit of advice for hosting a wine and cheese party is that there are is no wrong combination of food to choose! Get creative and choose a variety of products that you and your guests will love to snack alongside with a glass of wine.

The most important part of the plate is obviously the cheese! I spent a good amount of time in the specialty cheese aisle at my local grocery store and found some great deals on smaller portions. I loved having a small amount of several cheeses to give everyone a variety of choices.

The next items on the list are your meats. I actually found some great selections in the deli section that were very reasonably priced.

There are also a few other staple items that I personally always need to go along with my wine and cheese plates! Olives, a variety of dill pickles, grapes, mixed nuts and cherry tomatoes.

The final items on your cheese plate would be your bread and crackers.

Most importantly you are going to need some wine that your guest will love to pair alongside their favorite cheese plate items.

I have been a longtime fan of Living Wine Label because their wines include entertainment. They have several wines that come in pairs and work together in their app. The Living Wine Labels App is an authentic way for you to learn the stories behind each of their wines.

For my wine and cheese tasting party I chose The Walking Dead themed wines, which included The Walking Dead Blood Red Blend and The Walking Dead Cabernet Sauvignon. With friends gathered round and food on the table, we downloaded The Living Wine Labels App (which is free and available on the Google Play Store and Apple Store).

After you have the app set up, you simply place your phone in front of the wine and the AR-enabled label and suddenly Rick Grimes comes out to defend himself against a walker. You will join Rick Grimes of The Walking Dead on a dangerous supply run.

Move your phone over to the next wine bottle and you will suddenly find that you are dodging the grasping hands of a zombie! You can also use both bottles to unlock the ultimate battle for survival: a showdown worthy of the apocalypse! I just love that this is more than a bottle of wine and that the app brings the labels to life – and reveals the story behind every bottle!
