On July 22nd I welcomed a beautiful baby girl into this world and brought her home to our family the following day. With two older siblings at home anxious and excited to help care for their new sister, I had a helping hand every time baby Adeline cooed or whimpered. Each day when my eight year old daughter would get home from school, she would instantly ask to hold her baby sister. I would set them up on the couch to my older daughter could hold and bond with her baby sister and in moments, she had a sleeping baby nestled in her arms. The first few months with baby could not have been more perfect and I was convinced I had given birth to the happiest baby in the world. Then suddenly one day all of that changed and my days were filled with attempting to soothe a crying baby whom was no longer allowing anyone but myself hold her. She would cry uncontrollably during most days and getting her down for a nap was becoming very difficult. I swaddled her, rocked her, wore her in the baby carrier, and placed her in every bouncer and swing we owned in order to find what she most preferred for a nap. Nothing I tried seemed to ease her daily crying fits and my days were now only being spent taking care of a crying baby. I felt so sad that I was unable to spend more time with my other two children and that I could not figure out why my baby was so upset all day. No soon after I was presented with the opportunity to review the Ingenuity InLighten Cradling Swing… and that is when everything changed!

Can I just take a moment to tell you how amazing this swing is and that I am completely in love with it! Not only does my daughter take all her naps in it each day without hesitation, but it also has so many great features. Here is a look at some of the fantastic features that make this swing by far the best one I have ever had the pleasure of using with one of my babies.

 If my baby could talk I believe she would tell you that the LightBeams electronic mobile is her favorite feature. This adorable mobile with the plush animals also spins while the lights change colors in the middle. When I first began using this swing my daughter would instantly start crying when I would place her in it. I soon after realized that she was very fascinated with the mobile and began turning it on prior to putting her in the swing… that way we would prevent the crying from the start! She became so accustomed to this that she actually immediately looks up when I sit her in the swing, even when I forget to turn in on first. It just amazes me that this little baby has already associated the mobile with nap time and looks forward to watching. It is also quite hypnotizing and she will stare at it until she falls asleep.

 With two other children at home there is very rarely a time when the home is actually quite enough for a baby to sleep. I always turn the iPod dock on at my daughter’s naptime and play music so that she doesn’t get startled from outside noise and get woken. I was ecstatic when I saw that the swing had its own little compartment for a smartphone or device. You can plug your device into the swing, which will lay the music through the swings built in speakers. You could also play a video on the device and face it down so your baby can look up and watch it as they sleep… how cool is that!?

You will also see that the swing has control buttons that allow you to choose the swing speed, music/sounds, volume and battery saver mode. Don’t have batteries on hand, that’s OK because this swing can all be plugged into an outlet, that way you can use it all day long and never worry about the batteries dying!

The fabric on this swing is beautiful, elegant, and extremely soft! I am also very fond of the shape and size of the swing seat, it allows your child to sit comfortably while napping, you don’t have to worry about their head flopping forward uncomfortably.

As if this swing wasn’t amazing enough (based on all the features I have already informed you of) it goes one step further! This swing can actually rotate 180 degrees for three swing directions. I realized once I started using this swing that my daughter disliked the one we currently had because it didn’t swing from side to side. I thought to myself… well duh, of course she would prefer swinging side to side because that’s how I rock her in my arms to get her to fall asleep. I honestly believe that this is really the only type of swing your should purchase for your baby if you plan on using it when they are a newborn. As they get a bit older they will prefer swinging from front to back, but in the early months it’s vital to have that side to side swinging feature. Having both options helps significantly and my daughter prefers both, depending on her mood… it’s so great to have both options available to help ease her into a nap when she is fussy.

I am telling you with all honesty and sincerity… this swing has honestly brought me sanity these past few months! I could just go on an on about how much I love this swing and how great each and every feature is. There is literally not a single negative thing to utter about this swing, it is absolute perfection! This is undoubtedly a must have baby product for new moms, I could not have survived the newborn phase had it not been for this swing. I highly recommend this swing and just know you and your lovely new baby are going to enjoy it just as much as we have these past few months!
