I have been so blessed with three children that love to travel and are very enthusiastic about road trips. While we truly enjoy discovering new places, there is a lot of work that goes behind traveling as a family of five. How often have we come home from a vacation and say that we need another vacation from our vacation? Sometimes I find that the best memories we make our when we spend time together in our own home. I am always looking for unique ways to create memories from the comfort of home. Last year we decided to purchase an Alexa and our family quickly fell in love with this technology, so much so that within no time we purchased several Amazon Echos to place throughout the house. We have spent many nights laughing uncontrollably at the fun we’ve had using our Alexa! 

If you are unfamiliar with this technology, Alexa is simply a cloud-based voice service that allows you to play music and games, make phone calls, set timers and alarms, ask questions, check traffic and weather, and so much more! When you add the Alexa app to your smart phone, if gives you access to hundreds of skills that you can use with your Alexa. One particular skill that our family has recently fallen in love with is the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc. Theater skill. 

Our kids have  always loved Scooby-Doo and his adventures and this incredible skill allows you to go on an adventure of a lifetime with your family without ever having to step foot from your living room! You and the family will put on your detective hats and go on an interactive storytelling experience that puts your family in control as you choose where and how the story unfolds.

I love watching my children gather around Alexa and anxiously await to go on an adventure as they work alongside their favorite Scooby-Doo characters. Unlike video games and movies that keep kids sitting and staring at a screen, a game like this allows them to move around and use their imagination. There is just something so exciting about being able to choose where the story goes and having to work together as a family to figure out the mystery!

What I really liked about this skill is that there is a narrator that tells the story for you, he is actually a very good story teller and the kids are so intrigued every time he speaks. In addition to sound affects you also will listen to the infamous Scooby-Doo characters go on an adventure. Throughout the story the narrator will ask you which direction you want the story to go (for example the Scooby-Doo gang runs into something, the narrator will ask if it is a ghost or monster… you get to choose!) This new type of entertainment is a great way to encourage your children to use their imagination! This skill actually offers numerous storyline combinations and hours of content!!

If you have multiple children such as myself then I highly recommend the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc. Theater. There is no physical object they have to handle or a screen to stare at, just our Alexa where they can sit around and listen. They have to work together in order to solve the mystery by making decisions together throughout the story. This is truly something my whole family enjoys doing together and makes it possible to have fun adventures right at home!
