Computer Virus Dolls™ Trojan

A Trojan is a software program that looks useful or harmless, but that actually has a nefarious intent such as compromising security and allowing access to your system. Like the Trojan Horse from Greek mythology, once the innocuous looking file is brought into a computer system, normal defense mechanisms can be subverted.

GIANTmicrobes Review

The children and I recently had the pleasure of reviewing a great collection of items from one of out favorite companies, GIANTmicrobes! The first item that stood out to use was the Christmas Tree Box Ornaments. The kids were so fascinated by the miniature microbes and each one  was decorated in holiday items. The little microbes are also designed to be hung on the Christmas tree, so the kids have reserved a special spot for them until they can be hung. We also enjoyed taking each microbe and reading about what they are on the GIANTmicrobes website.

In addition to the the adorable collection of Christmas themed microbes, we also received a couple computer viruses! The regular computer virus came in a key chain, while the Trojan computer virus was a large plush toy.  I found these to be particularly fun to learn about and enjoyed explaining to the kids what they were. Lastly, we received this very interesting amoeba in a petri dish that is just absolutely great! It was so nice to discover the additional products that are available on the GIANTmicrobes website and add some additional learning resources to our collection. All of these items are designed so that my children are immediately intrigued and eager to learn all about them. We just love our GINATmicrobes products and we know your family will too!

  1. What an cute and fun way of learning for young and old alike! Thank you for the wonderful review (and introduction).

  2. Who knew the common cold could be so cute?!
I’ve got 3 kids with a cold right now and it’s definitely not as adorable as this! haha

  3. great review my oldest (college age) daughter introduced me to these last year. I’ve bought her quite a few and visit their site a few times a year but the computer viruses are new to me. I guess I need to head to the website now.

  4. We got a few of the non-Christmas ones for my now-7 year old, then-4, when she started to become interested in science. This year for Christmas we got her a microscope set, it was the top of her list and I really think these guys helped set off her continuing love of learning about the world around us. I even found them really neat, since looking at a capture from an electron microscope, or digital rendering is so different from holding it in your hand [and cute to boot!]

  5. Thank you for such an informative review! your pictures were so good that I felt like I truly got an idea of what these are like (and I have never heard of them).

  6. This cracks me up! I love it! My Granddaughters Momma is a chemistry teacher, among other things, and shes always teaching Emma about stuff like this. Im getting ready to send a link to this site to her, I know shes going to love it! Thank you for doing the review and sharing this site with us!

  7. I love that they are so adorable and its WONDERFUL that your children found them so educational! I think they are a great tool to use to teach kiddos science!

  8. I love the giant microbes, as I scientist I’m always happy when kids get to learn about science. Thanks for the review, I didn’t know that they put out a Christmas box.
