I have three little mouths to care for and it is not a task I take lightly! My 10 month old just popped out her seventh tooth and while getting hers clean is fun and simple right now, I can’t always say the same about my older two children. At the end of the day when it is time to get ready for bed, my four year old son always has a million excuses and it’s the last thing on his list to do. There are so many resources out there to help encourage oral health habits and one of my son’s favorites is using the “My Bright Smile” App!
Did you now that half a billion kids around the world have benefited from the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® oral health education program? Now they are offering an amazing free, educational app called “My Bright Smile.” This app includes five games (some examples are “Visit the Dentist,” “Swipe the Sweets” and “Brush the Teeth.”) There is even a two-minute song that will help keep your kids brushing until every single tooth is clean. My son is always asking me if he has brushed his teeth long enough, this is a great way to show him the appropriate amount of time he needs to spend on cleaning his teeth.
Here are some things that you will learn together while you and your child explore the app:
• Brush with fluoride toothpaste after breakfast and before bedtime
• Floss every day
• Visit your dentist regularly
• Limit the number of times you eat sweet and sticky snacks
The Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® program has been such a success globally that they wanted to extend that to even more people by creating a free app. In the United States, the classroom curriculum reaches nearly 9 out of every 10 kindergarten students each year, 3.5 million children in all 50 states, and more than 750,000 kids through our partnership with the Office of Head Start. I know that my oldest daughter has come home every year with a bag full of oral health products from this program, I am thrilled that our community participates! Globally, Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® is among the most far-reaching, successful children’s oral health initiatives in the world, reaching children in 80 countries with free dental screenings and oral health education. Colgate’s commitment to building a lifetime of healthy habits provides children with burgeoning self-esteem and a foundation for success – that’s the Power of a Bright Smile. If you have a child between the ages of 4-6 that could use a little encouragement when it comes to oral health, I highly suggest you consider downloading this free app. It is available in both the Apple Store and Google Play store·
