Diaper Rash Prevention Advice For New Parents

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Triple Paste Medicated Ointment for Diaper Rash for Summer Laboratories. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you follow me on social media then you already know that we welcomes baby numbers 4 at the end of October! You never know how siblings are going to react when you bring home a new baby, and thankfully my youngest welcomed her baby sister with open arms and was more than eager to help with her new sibling. From singing her songs when she cries… to grabbing my diapers and wipes when needed, she has been a dream when it comes to helping with a new baby.

Diaper Rash Prevention & Treatment

With a five year gap since my last baby, I had forgotten how much time you spend changing diapers and how often they need them… and how easily they can become irritated in the diaper area! Baby Harper was already on the verge of bad diaper rash when we brought her to her one week checkup and I made sure to use my trusted brand of diaper rash cream before it got too bad. I was quickly reminded that there are so many ways your baby’s skin can becomes irritated and the solution is to pay attention to the symptoms and treat them before they get worse. Here are some things to consider if you would like to avoid diaper rash:

  • Change diapers often
  • Pat the skin dry with a clean towel or let it air dry in between diaper changes
  • Don’t overtighten diapers
  • Give your baby’s bottom more time without a diaper
  • Wash your hands after every diaper change
  • Consider using diaper rash ointment regularly. I personally use diaper rash ointment with every diaper change because it creates a barrier on your baby’s bottom, which in turn prevents skin irritation. If you aren’t keen on applying it after every diaper change, then I suggest just using it when you know baby will be in diapers for an extended period of time (nap time, bedtime, long car ride).

Diaper Rash Prevention & Treatment

My greatest advice for you when it comes to diaper rash prevention is not to wait until the first sign of redness! I highly encourage you to start using Triple Paste preventatively during major changes such as when your baby starts teething and/or starts trying solid foods. These are typically major triggers of diaper rash, so it is always encouraged to start prevention during these milestones. Even if your baby hasn’t had any diaper rash up until this point, diaper rash often occurs along with developmental stages around 6 months of age.

Diaper Rash Prevention & Treatment

By the time I got to baby number three I had used what seemed like every brand of diaper rash ointment and I just was not happy with any of them! I am telling you right now… don’t make the mistakes I made… get it right the first time! Don’t waste your time trying various diaper rash ointments, start with Triple Paste. This advice is not only going to save you time and money, but it’s going to prevent you from experiencing a lot of frustration with ointments that just don’t get the job done right! I love Triple Paste ointment for my baby because it is safe and gentle enough for everyday use, yet strong enough to calm even the most raw, painful, and stubborn cases of diaper rash. When my Adeline was three years old and in pullups at night, she went through periods of time that she was wetting her pullup all night and waking up soaked! This caused some serious irritation… to the point that I thought we would end up at the pediatrician’s office. After a few days of using Triple Paste to treat the diaper rash during the day and using at night for prevention, it thankfully looked better! I am telling you, this product has never failed me and has rescued my little ones from diaper rash irritation more times than I can recall!

  1. I’m glad I came across this article, we are looking for an ointment for my niece. It’s great that it’s available in most stores – I hope this works for her!
