“Founded by Paul Kluempers who was intent on sharing his family tradition with the world, Bommerscheim Sisters Company is the creator and manufacturer of lovable, nostalgic cuddle toys called Bommerscheim Buddies. Grandmother Irene Bommerscheim, decided to teach her five daughters to sew. Since she was a skilled seamstress, it seemed like a natural fit. Taking the knowledge they acquired, daughters Pat and her Joan began creating hand-made stuffed animals for their children starting in the early 1960s and then their grandchildren in the 1980s. Three generations and 50 years later, the plush toys are available in a wide variety of fabrics and patterns and feature — most importantly –removable covers that are easily washed. All products made in the USA!”

My Review

The family story behind the making of the Bommerscheim Sisters Company is a wonderful one, so it was no surprise that their products were of superb quality! The majority of toys are being made outside of the US and the recalls on led based toys has seemed to increase greatly, so purchasing toys for my children can be a bit unsettling at times. It was such a sense of relief to discover a US made product that was not only of great quality, but available at such an affordable price! I have worked with embroidery in the past and I must say that the embroidery done on our Bommerscheim Buddy is of excellent quality. My three year old son fell in love with his “bunny” right away and has carried it around with him ever since. I can’t help but smile every time I hear him lose track of his bunny and begin asking “Mama, where my bunny, where my bunny!” He is very fascinated with the ears and enjoys holding them up in the air and calling it “super bunny” every chance he can get. It’s no secret that little boys love to get messy and I can’t tell you how lovely it is to have a stuffed animal that is easy and convenient to clean. The removable cover allows me to wash it when it accumulates stains from breakfast and place a different cover on in the meantime. No longer do I have to worry about it being destroyed in the washer or hearing a child get upset because their stuffed animal is in the wash. This is just an overall wonderful product and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to review it!
