So I am a bit obsessed with upcycling lately if you couldn’t tell from a few of my blog posts last week. I decided this would be a great opportunity to show you another one since you all seem to love them so much! You know the diaper boxes your baby’s diapers come in? What about all those boxes you get from stuff you receive in the mail? What if I told you that instead of just tossing them to the recycling bin, you could turn them into a beautiful diaper storage bin? This is such a simple and inexpensive craft… your friends and family will assume you paid big bucks for it at a store! All you will need for this craft in your a cardboard box, trusty glue gun, several yards of clothes line rope, 1 yard of your favorite fabric, and some embellishments.

The first thing you will want to do is cut the flaps off from your cardboard box, A box cutter will be the quickest way to do this. Then trim your yard of fabric so there is enough to cover the inside of the box. Glue the edges of the fabric to the box in order to keep it in place and then trim the fabric around the edges. You will then want to take out the glue gun and start gluing the clothes line rope to the outside of the box. For this particular project I didn’t find that it was necessary to glue every inch of the rope onto the box. I did however glue all of the rope that was on the front of the box since that is the focal point and which side you will see most often. On the side and the back of the box I simply glued is sporadically in order to keep the rope in place and prevent it from sliding down the box. This is a fairly quick process and once you get the feel for it, this should be done within an hour or so. The final step is optional, but I thought it added some great personality to the box. Add some embellishments onto the outside of the box. As you can see I glued a flower and (of course an owl) onto the outside, this made the box look so professional looking! You can find items such as these at any craft store, or you could upcyle items around the home!

I just love this DIY diaper bin and it was so simple to make! Though my diaper explosion days are far from over, this bin ensures that I can always keep a close eye on the quantity of diapers I have available. I can always be certain of when I am running low and that I need to go purchase more. This bin is also very light and would be a great place to store all of your diaper changing items in the trunk of your car on days that you are at the beach or playing at the park.
