If there is one thing I have learned by moving to another state, especially one on the opposite side of the country, is that each state defiantly has their own food traditions. One of the first foods I was introduced to, that I was not aware of while living in Maine, was grits! Ah yes, the people of Georgia love them some good ol grits and enjoy it with just about every meal. I have been given so much advice and recipe ideas on how to enjoy this newly discovered food. We all grow up on certain types of food and grits is that one for Georgians. While I am still trying to get use to this food, as it was not one I grew up on, you won’t see me serving it alongside my chili any time soon. However, I have found a traditional and simple chili plate that the entire family loves and we enjoy quite often.
If you would like to discover what your state enjoys alongside their chile, then you are in luck! HORMEL® Chili shared over 50 regional ways to enjoy chili on their website and Facebook page to show fans Chili Nation, a nation that has declared their love for all things chili! We all know that with kids less is more and if you add too many fancy ingredients to their meal, they’re less likely to try it. We are a big time chili eating family and enjoy it almost once a week. While I would love to have a homemade pot of chili to enjoy each week, sometimes our schedules are too busy and a quick meal is the more feasible option (especially if you have three hungry and inpatient children.) Your best next option is a favorite brand of ours, one our family has been eating for years… none other than HORMEL® Chili… America’s #1 chili!
With so many varieties, Hormel Foods has a chili for everyone in the family. Whether it’s a chili dog, chili cheese dip or your traditional chili in the bowl, HORMEL® Chili can be enjoyed year-round. HORMEL® Chili helps chili lovers savor traditions – all seasons, all occasions – by bringing together good foods and good times.
Personally our family like to keep it simple, we truly enjoy the chili itself and try not to overpower it’ delicious taste with too many toppings. Simply sprinkle your favorite cheese on top, along with some sour cream or greek yogurt, then pair with a bowl of your favorite tortilla chips and you are ready to eat. I don’t know about you, but I can’t enjoy my chili with a spoon, each bit has to be scooped with a tortilla chip! However just the other day I decided to crush a few tortilla chips and sprinkle them on top of my chili and OH MY was it delicious! There are so many fun and delicious ways to reinvent your chili experience so it never gets old!
