4 Things You Should Consider Before Starting A Blog

Many people dream of starting a new career as a professional blogger, but simply don’t know where to start! Don’t be under any illusions, it’s going to be hard work, especially if you are trying to look after a family and run a household at the same time. However, those who are successful find it to be one of the most rewarding careers out there. If you have the motivation and commitment to embarking on this career path, there are a few things you need to think about before you get started.

4 Things You Should Consider Before Starting A Blog

What Makes You Different?

If, for example, you want to set up a travel blog, you need to think about exactly what makes you different from the thousands of others that are out there. Try to think of an angle for your blog that makes you stand out, then think about who your target audience will be. It’s an old cliche, but you really should write about what you know. If you are writing from experience, words tend to flow out of you and you should have an endless supply of material to write about.

Think About Your Blog Page

You will want to make sure the design of your blog page is clear and attractive, and people can easily browse through to find out about your story and the types of things you write about. It’s a good idea to have a search function so people can easily scour through your past posts to find the subjects that most interest them.

Obviously, you need to have a stream of content to post to your blog on a regular basis so it may be a good idea to have a blog plan in place several weeks or months in advance. That way, you know that you are not going to run out of ideas. Make sure that everything is easy to update, and you also have some nice, personal pictures to go along with each post.

Build Your Following

This is one of the toughest things for new bloggers, and it can even be difficult for established blogs to continue to attract visitors. You should make sure that you have social media accounts, particularly Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, that are regularly updated and include links to each new blog as you post it. Think about trying to post guest blogs on other websites that include a back-link to your own page. Keep Their Attention

Remember, the majority of visitors to your blog will likely be new so you should find ways of keeping them coming back time and time again. Use a call to action at the end of each blog that allows them to sign up to your newsletter or receive alerts when you publish a new post. You can also have a pop up on the homepage that invites visitors to do the same thing.

Blogging is a fantastic and rewarding career so you really should think about starting one yourself!

  1. You are definitely right, I think that the main step after the decision to create blog is the choice of his topic. And the ideal theme is not one that seems to you profitable or cash, but one that you feel is real genuine interest. You can write virtually anything: about the collection of butterflies, the creation of programs in Visual Basic, biking trips round USA – the main thing is that the theme really deeply disturbs you. And then there is a great chance that your blog will bring together like-minded people and become a quality platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences and discoveries.

  2. Hi,
Starting a blog for the first time is an amazing, yet intimidating experience.
Thinking that people are actually going to read – and even share – something you wrote. It’s unlike any other feeling I can describe. But it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. Starting a blog is hard work, and there are a lot of pitfalls along the way. Especially if you’re a newbie.
