3 Month Baby Bump!

I was overwhelmed with joy and relief this Monday as I hit a huge milestone in my pregnancy… the 12 week mark! As my belly is starting to pop, my youngest has begun showing much more interest in talking to the baby. It amazes me just how much interest he has shown in wanting to know about the baby. Every day he asks me how big the baby is today and why does the baby have to still be in there. My seven year old daughter is over the moon with thoughts of holding a little baby and helping feed her. My heart is filled with so much joy and excitement, I just can’t wait for them to meet their new baby brother or sister!

I am finally starting to feel normal again and I think the morning sickness is just about over, thank goodness! I must say that this pregnancy was by far the most sick I have been of all three. In addition to spending far too much time running to the bathroom because I couldn’t even hold down water…. I also caught a horrible stomach bug and a nasty chest cold. Two months of complete misery and I am so ready to start feeling like myself again! I finally have a decent appetite, although my extreme love for coffee has been ruined by this pregnancy. Just the smell of the coffee brewing in the morning makes my stomach turn, I never thought I would go months without the urge to sip on my most favorite beverage!

Here is a little peek at what the baby looks like at this point in my pregnancy:

Baby’s Development Highlights:

  • Your baby’s brain continues to develop, and tiny fingernails and toenails start to form. Vocal cords are formed this week, which is the last of your first trimester.
  • Your baby’s kidneys are functioning! After swallowing amniotic fluid, your baby will now be able to pass it out of the body as urine. And the intestines will make their way into the abdomen, since there is room for them now.
