14 Classics to Share with Your Kids on Netflix #StreamTeam

Something that I have always found special is watching my children enjoying shows that I myself watched growing up. I remember watching Sesame Street every single day and learning my letter and numbers in alongside the loveable characters. There are so many shows that that have been lost over the years and it is so wonderful to see such an educational show survive so many years at the top. It is an indescribable feeling watching my children laugh, giggle and learn with Sesame street,  just as I did at their age.

My three year old recently discovered the adorable face of Curious George as we were looking through the titles on Netflix. He has made it a morning routine to snuggle with me on the couch and enjoy an episode of Curious George. That is a name everyone is familiar with and most likely watched growing up, I know I did! Discovering new shows is always a treat, but finding ones that bring back cherished memories as a child is the icing on the cake! I am so delighted by all the variety of shows (from my past) that are available on Netflix so that I can create new memories with my children.

Take a look at all the wonderful titles available through Netflix Streaming, I just know you are going to find one that will bring those memories from your past flooding back!

  1. I liked your movie picks but yeh I have some favs you forgot the Phantom toll booth I loved as a kid and still do, and there is a Peter Pan that came out recently from England, best ever peter pan if you haven’t seen it yet do. Babe is too cute to leave off any list of family films and the 10th knigdom, not a movie but a mini series any one who loves fairy tales will love this,

  2. It`s nice that you can find shows that were watched while growing up and now can be shared w/kids.

  3. I used to love the nancy drew and hardy boys episodes. And I enjoyed sharing them with my daughter when she was growing up

    1. I loved H.R. Pufnstuf! I really loved following my big brother around the house, singing the theme over..and over. Good times, for me at least, not so much for him lol.

  4. I think we may bail on cable and just watch Netflix. We’d save money and really, the oldies really are the goodies as far as TV goes these days.

  5. Netflix has been a lifesaver when it’s not nice enough to take my granddaughter outside. We’ve discovered so many new to us shows, and rediscovered a lot I had forgotten about.

  6. I love your picks! Jem, The Babysitters Club, and Saved By The Bell were some of my favorites! When I got to high school, Dawson’s Creek was also one of my favs!

  7. Netflix is great. I only wish it had been around when my child was growing up. He did have some favorites one of which was Sesame Street.

  8. My son and I love watching movies. For a looong time everytime we watched a movie he made me watch the PowerPuff Girls Movie LOL

  9. I love netflix. So many fab shows to pick from. We are always watching something. Saved By the Bell, care bears, cone heads etc. I have so many I like. I love watching with my kids.

  10. I love the old shows too! I think you can get the Schoolhouse Rock episodes on Netflix. Conjunction Junction! I’m just a bill, on Capital Hill. Loved those!

  11. I’d be lost without my Netflix. My little one isn’t little anymore but that didn’t stop me from watching & enjoying the Croods all by myself!

  12. My kids and I love Netflix is easy to pick a movie and spend family time together thank you Netflix

  13. I love a lot of those shows. It’s a lot of fun to see my kiddos get the same enjoyment out of them as I did

  14. What a joy to see the variety and number of children’s selections. There is so much on Netflix that kids will love and no viewing concerns for parents.

  15. Although both of my kids have out grown these kind of movies, their Mom and I still enjoy watching some of them together. It always makes my heart smile to hear my wonderful wife laughing.

  16. My son always found a lot of shows and movies to watch when we had Netflix streaming. I am going to have to look into getting it again.

  17. I’ve been using Netflix for a few years, but when they separated the streaming from home delivery, and raised the price, I dropped back to just the streaming. The only thing I really don’t like about it is that they don’t list the day a particular film will be dropped but we’ve really loved House of Cards and Orange is the New Black.

  18. love netflix…it’s funny how the movies we enjoyed as kids, my kids now love…my kids are a little bit older and love David Bowie in the Labrinth

  19. We have been thinking about trying Netflix for months now. We don’t have a TV, but we do enjoy watching some movies and shows, so this might be a good deal for us.

  20. Our son found Curious George on the tablet the other day…he loves him!! I was into Care Bears when I was little but I cant seem to get him into them.

  21. We love netflix. I really like watching carebears with my younger two and with my older two we watch crime shows and police dramas. They are junkies like me when it comes to that type of show. I also LOVE watching Greys over and over and 24 too.

  23. I really enjoy going down memory lane watching old tv shows. I also love to watch entire series at once. Netflix is great!

  24. I would love to try Netflix out to pick my own favorites. Right now I have cable and am not impressed with what is on television for the exorbitant monthly price that is charged.

  25. I would love for my daughter to be able to watch the Smurfs and Carebears. Wonderful cartoons, I loved them!!

  26. This article brought back some memories of my younger years. I remember a lot of them, even though some of the shows I never watched. My son loves Transformers and Spider Man and we have all of the latest box office live-action movies. We have Netflix and he has watched a lot of the older cartoons and movies and has liked some movies that I never would have thought he would have liked.

  27. I love Netflix, but haven’t used it in a while. Your post wants me to restart it to show my daughter some of my favorite shows. I also use to love Jem & The Babysitters Club!

  28. this is a perfect gift!! we love watching netflix and finaly in canada we are getting great movies, we watched honey i shrunk the kids the other day and it brought up so many memories!

  29. I have to get Netflix! You picked some good ones, my kids are older but I still love anything Disney, and I used to watch Family Ties and other shows from that era like clockwork. I never though to see if my kids would enjoy them now. It’s incredible to be able to watch pretty much anything at any time. Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. I’ve wanted Netflix for so long- we just got the Google device that lets us watch it on our TV- would be great! Wanna see House of Cards, for starters!

  31. We’ve wanted Netflix for SO long but it’s just won’t fit in our current austerity budget (which I hope won’t last forever!)

I enjoyed your post (and what you are posting about!) Seeing this list of 14 Classices REALLY brought back a lot of memories for me (and for my Honey/Hubby – we’re the same age and from the same general area)
It also made me feel a little old seeing in that list a number of “classics” that I’ve never seen and even a few that I’d never heard of!

In any case I am glad they are still out there and the Netflix is providing access for all generations.

Thanks again for the great giveaway! As you know a great many of us very much very much appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity.

  32. I love how they have shows I enjoyed as a child that I can share with my child. I did not realize this. I think we may have to look at getting Netflix since all we use right now is an antenna.
